Musician Carol Nantongo grew up with her single mother, who did all sorts of odd jobs to cater for her well-being and school fees.
She has never enjoyed love from her father and says they are not friends, even though she has respect for him as a parent.
In an interview with a local YouTuber, Nantogo explained that she doesn’t have a strong bond with her father for ignoring her and her mother for many years.
“I surely don’t have a strong bond with my father because he never appeared in my life while I was growing up. It’s my mother who took on responsibility and catered for everything at home. She used to wash clothes and dig for everyone around to make a living,” she explained.
The singer’s story resonates with many others who grow up with single parents. It fosters a sense of self-reliance and independence in them.
